January 1st 2016 - Happy New Year!!!

Ian and everyone at ianmlindsay.com wish everyone a happy new year. Ian will busy for a few months producing a album and rehearsing for a stage musical. The band will be back performing at various events later this year. Check the website for details.

November 17th 2013 - The Nags Head, Reading

Re-booked by popular demand. It's expected to be a full house, so get there early!

October 13th 2013 - The Nags Head, Reading

After weeks of rehearsing some new numbers for the show, the band perform a warm up gig in Reading. The
place is packed. Every song andguitar solo is applauded. There is much merriment. Thanks to Mico and to
Lynne at the Butlers for rehearsal space and hospitality.

August 25th 2013 - Henley in Arden Music Festival, Warwickshire

Ian performs the Skiffle Boom tribute with Jack, Sara and Martyn. It's a fantastic turn out, and the days is a resounding
successs. Even a brief shower cannot dampend the bouyant crowds. Thanks to all.

December 7th 2012 - Corporate event - Piccadilly, London

After a very success Corporate Jubilee celebration, the lads have been asked back to entertain at the employees Christmas party.

June 9th - 3rd Annual Twyford Beer Festival - In aid of the Orchid cancer charity

The band will be headlining on the Saturday at 7pm, performing their Lonnie Donegan & the Skiffle Boom tribute.
Other acts on the bill not to be missed include The Skangsters - popular local tribute to Madness, The Specials and Ska
Twyfords' The Peoples Front of Judea, plus London covers outfit The And Band.
The free event runs from 12am through to 9pm. with over 30 real ales and ciders, food available, it promises to be another great family day out. All profits go to the Orchid cancer charity.

June 1st 2012 - Corporate Jubilee celebration - Piccadilly, London

The Lunchtime event was a resounding success and as a result, the show has been rebooked for December.

28th April - Private 80th Birthday party - Emmbrook, Wokingham

The band were only too happy to perform excerpts from their new show on the happy occasion of Greta's 80th Birthday. The event was a much talked about success.

1st January 2012 - Happy New Year!

The band and team wish evryone a happy and prosperous New Year!
After the tragic death of founder band member Tony Barter last year, the band has decided to take time out to complete their much awaited tribue show to Lonnie Donegan and the Skiffle Boom.

June 18th - Two Rivers, Staines

Ian is joined by Brin, Jack Giles and Paul McKenna and perform a lively Skiffle set to entertain the audience at the retail park's fashion show. Not even the brief thunder storm could dampen their spirits.

May 21st - The Dolphin Hotel, Newbury

Ian is joined by new guitarist Brin and Cathy & Colm from The Newtowners, at the 77th Birthday celebrations of an old Skiffle hero.
"What a fantastic afternoon! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We performed two hours of pure 1950's Skiffle. Guests of all ages joined in singing and dancing" - Ian

May 19th- Modern Moods - The Retreat, Reading

Ian will be performing his Modern Moods show for the first time without Tony on bass, since his passing. He's been promised a lot of support from friends and fans alike. He'd like to thank you all. 9-11pm The Retreat 8 St John's Street, Reading, Berkshire,RG1 4EH

May 3rd-18th - Black Diamonds Auditions/ Rehearsals

After taking two months out due to the death of Tony, Ian is back in action.
In preparation for festivals and events later in the year, auditions and rehearsals will take place in Reading and London for singer/ musicians. Further auditions will be held around the country so watch this space.

March 2nd 2011 - Tony Barter 1948 -2011

After recent illness Tea chest bass player and founder member of The Black Diamonds Skiffle band tragically passed away on Sunday 6th March at 2.30pm.

His funeral will take place on Thursday 17th March at St John Bosco Catholic Church at 1pm 56 Western Avenue, Woodley, Reading , Berkshire, England, RG5 3BH.

We would be pleased to see as many people as possible in attendance.

We would like to thank all our friends and supporters and people that known Tony over the years

November 14th - Georgina's Review Bar Grand Opening, Reading

The band are supporting the launch of this exciting new Burlesque and live music experience in Reading. Think of decadent 1930's Berlin and the musical 'Cabaret'. Live music includes La Morte Subite, Nicole and Rhapsodaisical. The launch night will be a fund raiser for the charity Orchid. The venue is being run by the organizers of the Twyford Beer Festival.

It's definitely going to be a great spectacle. Please show your support!

September 25th - Berrow Court, Edgbaston

The wedding reception show, went down a storm. The dance floor was packed from the first song to the last and the lads thoroughly enjoyed themselves. 80's Techno - Skiffle has arrived!

September - Techno Skiffle

Together with local guitarist Drew Wiggin (another patron of the Hobgoblin pub in Reading), the lads have been rehearsing a set of 80's classics for a wedding later in the month.

August - Mike Campbell leaves the band

The band are saddened to hear of lead guitarist Mike's decision to leave The Black Diamonds. His contribution over the last year and a half has helped to secure the success the lads have enjoyed. Best of luck for the future mate!

The Black Diamonds will play two one hour sets between 4pm and 8pm.

Apart from a few guest appearances around the country, the band will be busy recording tracks for their long awaited album. With Mike away in Scotland, Ian and Tony have been busy putting the finishing touches to the music and website (which is now running) for Modern Moods. www.modermoods.co.uk

Ian & Tony (with some very special guests), will be performing a full show of 'Classic Acoustic & Contemporary Music'. Time: 9 'til late.

September - October - Winnersh Studio

The lads will be taking a couple of weeks off to record tracks for the new album 'Absinth Makes The Heart Grow Fonder' and some classy favourites for the new 'Modern Moods' website (which will be online soon), and the Ian M Lindsay site, which will be online by the end of November.

Saturday 17th October - The Butler, Chatham St. Reading, UK

With drummer Keith hospitalized and awaiting an operation for slipped discs and sciatica - (We all hope you get well soon mate!) - in stepped drummer and percussionist Stu Young, a local guy, originally from Toronto, Canada. He's travelled all over the world playing drums, including five years in Puerto Rico learning Congas from a 'Master'. He's fitted into the band effortlessly, and will be featuring alongside the lads for future gigs.

This was the best night we've had down here to date. The venue was packed. The show had everyone in the audience singing along, dancing. The original songs and the 'Modern Moods' set in the middle were exceptionally well received. By the end of the last set (and three encores later), the place was in a frenzy. Thanks to Lynn, Jules and all the staff for a great night! And to everybody that turned up to support us' - Ian

Monday 14th September - 23rd September - Eivissa, Ibiza

Ian performs several 'Modern Moods' shows to international audiences in Ibiza's old town - Eivissa.

'It's was the first time I'd been here. Everybody was so friendly, the hospitality was excellent, the shows went down a storm. (There actually was a storm over the airport - twister an' all - the day I arrived. We couldn't land and had to be diverted to Alicante to refuel).

I've been invited back next summer to tour the island.

The lads will be joining forces with the usual crew of local folk and Jazz celebrities, for another live video link up with the United States.

Ian & Tony present their highly praised 'Modern Moods' show. 9pm till 11.

Thursday 20th August - The Strafford, Barnsley, UK

Ian, Gerry Murphy and Manchester pianist Dave Taylor perform a selection of favourites from the 'Modern Moods' and 'Black Diamonds' repertoires to an enthusiastic local audience.

Thursday 13th August - The Cavern Club, Liverpool, UK

Ian marks his return to the birthplace of the Beatles with an impromptu performance with local artist Ronnie Hughes. The duo entertained the crowds of buoyant locals, Japanese and American tourists. - This was my first performance here since 1996. The 'Cavern Mecca', was the Jazz cellar that gave birth to The Beatles and 'Merseybeat'. This was Tony's first proper visit here and it was a pleasure to introduce him to old friends and acquaintances. We spent the afternoon in the 'Grapes' pub in Mathew street with former Beatles manager Allen Williams, Tim Connor, Phil Melia (Guitarist with 'Mojo Filter', my old band 'The Green Room' and recently 'The Pete Best band' - starring the original Beatles drummer) and my dear friend and mentor Gerry Murphy (Award winning Liverpool singer / songwriter) -- Ian

Friday 7th August - 'Party time' - The Butler, Chatham St. Reading, UK

In preparation for their tour later in the year, the lads will be performing Songs from their new 'Party Show' (Goodtime music) and by request, a set of Ian's popular originals, including [Sink or Swim' & 'Shades of Susan'.

Sunday 2nd August - The Butler Real Ale Festival - Reading, UK

To conclude the weekends festivities, the full band perform a 'lively and entertaining' show, the finale being a rousing rendition (accompanied by the entire audience) of Lonnie's 'Does your chewing gum lose its flavour'.

Sunday 19th July - 'The Big Lunch' - Kennet side Reading, UK

The lads show their support for a locally endorsed campaign to petition the local Council over the recent closure of the 'Jolly Anglers'. The local residents, regulars and members of CAMRA enjoyed a live open air performance by the band and other local musicians - Photos in all the local press!

Saturday 11th July

- The Silver Searchers play their 'Swinging 60's' show to a packed audience in Whitstable, UK "Great crowd, great night" - Ian

Wednesday 9th July

- The Silver Searchers (Featuring Ian on lead vocals and lead guitar) rehearse at our new studio for the 1st time.

Sunday 5th July - 'Ripples across the pond'.

Ian, Tony and John perform in a live Video link up to an audience in Philadelphia, USA. Featuring appearances by Hickory Smoke's Colm Daley and the rest of the band (freshly back from their afternoon show at the Henley Regatta, on a paddle boat steamer no less!).

With a guest appearance by Hickory Smoke's Colum Daley on Fiddle and Ukulele,
Ian, Tony & John entertain the masses in the searing June heat.

May & Early June 2009:

The lads begin a string of UK local warm up shows for the tour later this year.
These include:
  • The Hazelmere Festival- Bucks
  • The Lion Ralley- Grazeley, Berks and
  • 'Skiffle-fest' at 'The Butler'- Reading, Berks.
The release of the long awaited 'End of the line' album is delayed due to technical problems in the completion of there own purpose built recording studio in High Wycombe, Bucks, England. It's expected to be out end of September 2009.

Five Skiffle tracks now aailable on youtube, including two originals: 'Thames valley taxi's' & 'Dockers shanty' - Penned by Ian (Shades of Susan).
